It is very hard for me to believe that Mr. Morgan has left this earth. As one of the most influential professors that I had at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Mr. Morgan was both an inspiration and a mentor to me. After graduating in 1995, I continued contact with him and tried to see him whenever I visited the Lafayette area. I was fortunate enough to spend several hours with him this past New Years Eve, when he invited me and my family to his home and studio.

As an educator, Mr. Morgan was tough. He expected plenty from his students. He treated us as fellow artists, and he expected us to act as such. Art was his passion, and he took it very seriously. I learned so much from him, and to this day, my own work and teaching style directly reflects his influence.
My heart goes out to his family. I wish I could be there for the wake and for them. Although, I know he would want me to stay with my students as they finish up their quarter.
